We have a farm!

We are in the process of moving into our new home, on our new property, in a new state, with plans for a drastically new lifestyle. Obviously the next step is to start a blog! I have always loved writing, and especially journaling. Creating a record is important to me. But blogging is different. Other people read blogs. So far I’ve only ever written for my own personal journal. Being public is intimidating, even if no one ever reads it, they could read it. I am not looking forward to focusing on my grammar and spelling.
For the past 7 years as I have been searching and (gratefully) finding detailed blogs about water storage, food storage, homesteading, engineering, permaculture, farming, gardening, furniture making, cooking, decorating, homeschooling, beekeeping, raising each and every type of animal I’ve ever imagined and a lot I never thought of, and any other topic in the world you could possibly want to read about, I have had two recurring thoughts.
The first: “with all the things these people are doing how do they possibly have time to keep up a blog?!” And the second: “with all the blogs already out there what could I write about that anyone would ever want to take the time to read?”

Luckily, with the first, there are a lot of us! So it doesn’t have to be on just one person all the time.  And with the second, this is a family history. We’re not writing to please thousands of readers or to be the most interesting/unique blog on the Internet.  We are writing to keep a history of our family and to give our children, grandchildren, and generations to come something to look back on. To let them know how we started and what we learned. Having this beautiful purpose in my heart makes this not just less overwhelming, but exciting! Journaling is one of my hobbies. I can do this! More importantly I WANT to do this!

The current problem... We still haven’t picked our farm/business name. Which means for the moment, these “blog posts” are going to sit in my google drive until I can create a blog with our name, then add these posts and back date them.

The point is, even without our name, we have started!!! We have a farm! We have been dreaming about having a farm for years, and now we can start making these dreams a blissful, sweaty, exhausting, reality! We are SO excited for this next adventure!
